Singer booked for fraud and arrested by Police

Punjabi singer Preet Brar, who was absconding since last month after being booked in a land fraud case, has been arrested by the Mumbaipolice while he was trying to flee abroad on Friday.

PREET BRARThe SAS Nagar police had issued a lookout notice against the singer after he and his non-resident Indian (NRI) brother Amritpal Singh Brar were booked in a Rs. 51-lakh fraud case at the Phase-8 police station in August.

Complainants Ramandeep Singh, Amritpal Singh, Inderjit Singh and Bhupinder Singh had alleged that Preet Brar and his brother took earnest money of Rs. 51 lakh for agricultural land in Kharar in March 2011, which they never owned.

 When contacted, senior superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said, “A team of the local police will travel to Mumbai in a day or two to get the singer’s custody”. The singer was booked in another case in April this year for theft and forcibly occupying a flat in Mundi Kharar.
