Lucknow: Two people have died while 17 others are injured after violent clashes broke out in Saharanpur on Saturday.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav to ensure communal harmony and offered him all the help to contain violence in Saharanpur district.
In reply, the CM assured the home ministry that appropriate actions are being taken and the situation is under control.
A curfew was imposed in the town after two groups indulged in communal violence over a land dispute. The police force has been called up to handle the situation.
On the other hand, BJP is protesting against SSP of the region in Moradabad while Congress decided to hold a peace march from Delhi to Moradabad.
Violent clashes erupted in Saharanpur on Saturday after two groups had a spat over a gurudwara land and some construction adjacent to it.
The police have arrested nearly 6 people regarding the clashes. The brawl took an ugly turn and both the groups burnt several vehicles in the area. The police had to impose a curfew in the region.
They also fired at each other. According to reports, 5 policemen were injured in the violence while more than 12 shops and vehicles were engulfed by the fire spurred by groups. PAC and RAF forces are deployed at the disturbed site.
Following the clashes, markets, schools and colleges were shut down in Saharanpur. Petrol pumps were also closed looking at the fire situation. The most affected areas by the violence are the gurudwara road, city steeple, Ambala road and Luhani Saray region.
