Canadian high commission seeks copy of arrest warrant against Makhan

The Canadian high commission in India has sought information on the case registered against Punjabi singer-actor KS Makhan (37). Programme assistant anti-fraud and quality assurance unit of high commissioner in a communication to Jalandhar SSPO said we wanted to gather the information in regard to an arrest warrant issued to Kuldeep S Thakar alias KS Makhan. It said if possible a scanned copy of the arrest warrant should be sent as Makhan had submitted an application.

KSMThe Nakodar police have sent a report to Jalandhar superintendent of police (SSP). It said addition district and sessions judge Balwinder Singh had issued warrant of arrest against Makhan on February  9, 2012 , which were returned  as the accused was untraceable.

Makhan and others had been booked under sections 8,21,25,29, 60 and 61 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on Agust 1, 2006 and a challan against him and seven others was filed in April 2012. The court had framed charges against the accused on February22, 2013. Makhan surrendered in the court later on and is currently on bail and is residing at his native village Shankar near here.
