A Brampton couple has hit the lotto jackpot winning nearly $18.8 million.

Jaspreet and truck driver Gurbhej Sran won the Lotto 649 with a free-play ticket on March 22.

“I had a feeling we should go to the store and check our ticket,” Jaspreet said in a news release. “The self-checker said ‘Big Winner, see retailer,’ so we thought maybe we’d won $10,000. We were so surprised to find out it was much, much more!”

The couple migrated to Canada from India nearly four years ago.

Cradling their one-week old baby, the new parents said they haven’t had much time to plot out all their future plans, but want to bring their parents to Canada to share their newfound wealth.

And Gurbhej, who drives trucks for a living, said he wants to buy his dream truck and keep working.
